General Objective: To establish institution-wide normative guidelines to optimize the perioperative management of patients who decline transfusion of blood components, while ensuring clinical safety and respect for patient autonomy through the implementation of Patient Blood Management (PBM) strategies.
Scope: This protocol is mandatory for anesthesiologists, surgeons across all specialties, and Intensive Care Medicine specialists at Hospital Clínico de la Universidad de Chile (HCUCH).
