Frailty is defined as a syndrome characterized by a decreased physical and
cognitive reserve that leads to greater vulnerability and adverse outcomes in the
face of an acute stressor. Our impression is that this concept is rarely incorporated
in our anesthesiologic practice and, therefore, not considered when evaluating
the patient and establishing an anesthetic management plan, correctly assessing
the associated risks. Here, we present a case of an adverse event that occurred
during anesthetic induction, the cause of which we attribute to this condition.
